This is a photo from northern Thailand where we got to ride a beautiful elephant. You can see the chain just in shot. These are tied to their feet when they are not trekking... I had a mixture of emotions on the ride. I loved the feeling of riding an elepant but felt guilty that such a magnificent animal is being kept from it's natural purpose on earth.

I quite like black background. And I'm starting to learn more about lighting and photography. Oh and shadows. I think there'll be a lot of experiments with strobes to come in the near future. Please be patient with me.

I also think that the lack of photoshop, because the main mothership computer is playing up and taking ages to load when switching on; and the CS3 trial on my current laptop is over.... is making pushing forcing me to take better pictures and not to rely on photoshop as much. I've been told, if you get it right on camera, you save a lot of time later... I'm learning, what can I say? But one thing that is annoying me is the hair and being able to make out the outline of my breast(!) because it wasn't dark enough there. But oh well.

Strobist information (because this is officially my first public photo, taken with strobes!): White brolly to camera right, with a reflector to camera left. Lighting power is.... goodness knows how much power (still not worked out way to find out as it's more of a knob I turn between 1/8 to 1?! somewhere closer to 1 i think?! lol)

"You shameless tramp. Stop singing that filthy song and get down off that piano. Don't give me any of that "Venus told me to" crap, you hussy. Hmm, no panty lines. I don't suppose you're wearing anything at all under that, that GARMENT. Well, I might be inclined to let it go this time, but don't you go upsetting decent folk."

The Squirming Coil of sunset

I keep within my reach

Tried yesterday to get away

and hitchhiked to the beach

I saw Satan on the beach

trying to catch a ray

He wasn't quite the speed of light

and the squirming coil

it got away...

look what we found at my mom's house!

it seems to work, but there's no way to get film for it. we have the whole kit, leather case, flash attachment, instructions, even the solution you have to wipe over the pictures to keep them from fading.

we also found a polaroid 660, maybe i'll get some film and try that out real soon. we were actually looking for my dad's old sx-70, but haven't found that one yet.

Last time I checked I had 18... now am left with 15?! What happened to the three?!

The laughing kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) is a bird in the kingfisher subfamily Halcyoninae. It is a large robust kingfisher with a whitish head and a brown eye-stripe.[2] The upperparts are mostly dark brown but there is a mottled light-blue patch on the wing coverts.[3][2] The underparts are cream-white and the tail is barred with rufous and black.[2] The plumage of the male and female birds is similar. The territorial call is a distinctive laugh that is often delivered by several birds at the same time, and is widely used as a stock sound effect in situations that involve a jungle setting.[4]

This is a tribute shot for my all time favourite Six Feet Under HBO show! I know I already did one a while ago for my Day 139. But I wanted to do another one :)

This one was inspired by the Six Feet Under complete series 1 DVD box set. That would be my most favourite cover. And well, both series 1 and the final series 5 have to be my favourites to watch. But obviously, the first pilot show for series 1 kicks ass.

I missed the lipstick out because well.. it was just too much work to get "That shot"

(It took me more than 40 shots to get it just right, so hard to shoot one's face at a certain angle, and manage to get lighting and focus and everything right..! it's all trial and error when doing one's face!)

Anyway. Slightly off focus (which you can blab and say, hey it's intentional!) but actually my focus is baaad.

And well, there's room for so much more improvement. I've given up now. Am sick of this image. I've spent too long on it, and it's doing my head in... I could die right now. (haha. geddit geddit? die? eh.. ok.. right)

But I do love love love, six feet under though :)

Found a christian church in Fuzhou today, really suprised me! Despite religion being banned throughout China during the revolution, the congreation were all over 50, which means they all had to live in denial through those years...

No photoshop to get the old style effect here, I tried a little experiment during exposure to give this effect. I think it gives the heavenly religious effect quite well, tell me what you think?!

colburn school in pittston.

i was checking out an old graveyard, and this old one room school house was next to it. i never noticed it there before. it was locked up tight, and the windows were too high to look in, but i was able to reach it with my camera and get a couple of shots.
